On January 16, The News published that PML-N and the PML-LM (Like-minded) are close to form an alliance for which a draft agreement has already been prepared and is being reviewed for finalisation.
According to the newspapers, the draft agreement discusses the formula for the distribution of seats between the two parties at the next general elections but ensures that the PML-LM leaders get the alliance tickets from their choice constituencies i.e. Gohar Ayub Khan, NA-19 Haripur; Hamid Nasir Chattha, NA-101 Gujranwala; and Humayun Akhtar Khan, NA-79 Samundri, Faisalabad. It added that one Senate seat shall be allocated to Senator Haroon Akhtar Khan of the PML in the next Senate elections.
The draft agreement, a copy of which is available with The News, resolves that the alliance is taking place between the two parties to unite the Pakistan Muslim League vote bank.
