The Memogate scandal has become a major issue of Pakistan, keeping the rest aside. It has gone viral ever since the news spread out. However, the case seems to have no liability.
A petition by Mr. Nawaz Sharif has been filed against it. It is obvious that this is not a trial court; it’s simply a petition of breach of rights filed under section 184.
The matter is in the hands of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. What will the Supreme Court do about it? How will the government react towards it?
Prime Minster Yusuf Raza Gilani has ordered an immediate inquiry into this matter. Let’s see how far these inquiries go and what measures are taken to find handle this case.
There are two aspects that cannot be ignored: Firstly, Mr. Hussain Haqqani can not deny the fact that the Memogate is an actual document. Secondly, the U.S has taken this matter very seriously.
This Memo has gone to the former head of CIA and General Jones considered it to be important so delivered it further.
Now, I don’t want to be the judge or jury in this case, but it does indicate that Mr. Hussain Haqqani was involved in it; he has contributed his part.
The Memo was not written on paper therefore it does not have a government’s letterhead or seal on it. Documents such as these are deliberately not written on paper so they can be denied.
In this case, Mr. Mansoor Ejaz stated that someone handed it over to him and he passed it on thinking it was important.
Pakistan stands at a very delicate point now. The image of the country has worsened than before and it is at risk. I believe that this case should be investigated transparently.
